[Why did I become a drill instructor?] - We ask drill instructors currently training recruits on Parris Island why they decided to take on one of the Corps’ toughest jobs. Here’s what one said:
“I became a drill instructor because I wanted to make a difference in the Marine Corps. Here, every time you touch a recruit, it branches out. He’s going to remember you and what you taught him. Here, you get them fresh, break them down and put a foundation.”
- Staff Sgt. Alvaro Menzies drill instructor, Platoon 3021, Mike Company
